Burnie Creatives
It’s almost here - the book you have been waiting for since Burnie Arts Council’s 75th birthday celebrations in October 2023.
Book Launch
8th November 2025
Burnie Creatives celebrates the passionate and diverse community of artists, performers, and makers who have shaped Burnie’s cultural landscape across generations.
What began as a 145-person ‘Arts Wall of Fame’ at our 75th birthday celebrations has evolved into a colourful coffee table publication featuring profiles of approximately 300 artists across every artform — each representing a unique thread in the city’s creative fabric.
Compiled by Heather Wild and Lyndal Thorne over a two-year period, Burnie Creatives brings together thousands of shared stories and images, capturing not only individual journeys but also the collective spirit that defines Burnie’s cultural life. Alongside the profiles, the book traces the Burnie Arts Council’s rich history, honouring its decades-long role in nurturing creativity across North-West Tasmania.
